Message flexibility is the theme of Babcock's SP-300 stackable displays. The number of characters per display range from one and one-half to four. As a result , a field can be created to meet nearly any application, including: computer peripherals, automotive, appliance, point-of-sale, and instrumentation.
Babcock's SP-300 Series is recognized by Underwriters Laboratory, Inc., file #E49139.

Notes
1.
Recommended minimum supply voltage for initial ionization is 160 volts dc. After the display has ionized, the voltage drop is approximately 135 volts at typical cathode current.
2.
Display supply voltage (including ripple) should not exceed 200 Vdc when display is used with DD-700 decoder/drivers. Higher display supply voltages are acceptable when the breakdown of the driving device exceeds 80 Vdc.

4.
The specified minimum current is required for even segment glow. Current values up to 1.5 times the typical specified may be used. Life expectancy, however, may be reduced by operation at excessively high currents. Segment currents for multiplexed (time shared) operation may safely be increased to four times typical with 0.25 or smaller duty cycle.
5.
To ensure uniform operation of both colon cathodes, each should have its own current limiting device (resistor or current sink).
6.
Keep-alive use is recommended for all multiplexed application. Three milliseconds is the maximum refresh period without keep-alive. Ten milliseconds is typical with keep-alive.
7.
No anode or cathode blanking is required for proper display performance. Some blanking, however, may be advantageous in eliminating time overlap of signals due to circuit characteristics.
8.
Cathode voltage swings of as little as 30 volts may be acceptable under specific conditions.
9.
The sum of cathode bias voltage and cathode voltage swing must be within recommended display supply voltage.
10.
Specified for lighted cathodes on all digits with Independent current limiting. For busted cathodes (multiplexed operation). 90 volts is permissible.
11.
Anode ON times assume typical keep-alive current and typical anode supply voltage.
12.
The specified blanking time assumes 990 µA for SP-350 series,520 µA for the SP-330 Series. Blanking requirements are strongly dependent upon the mode of multiplex operation, the segment current used, and upon the supply voltage used.
13.
Colons, decimals, pluses and minuses must have the same blanking as any other cathode and are only enabled during their respective digit times.

SPECIAL HANDLING INSTRUCTIONS
MOS circuit components in this assembly are susceptible to damage from static electricity and high voltage transients. A shorting pad of conductive foam has been installed across the interface connector. The shorting pad should not be removed until the terminating connector is wired and ready to be connected to the assembly. The interface connector should always be terminated with either the shorting pad or the terminating connector. DO NOT TOUCH the interface connector with fingers or tools in the absence of the shorting pad or the terminating connector unless properly grounded. The data connector should not be connected or disconnected while power is applied to the unit.
LIMITED WARRANTY
All Babcock displays have a one year limited warranty. Disassembly of the product will void the warranty. Damaged displays should be returned to the factory for analysis. Contact the factory for further details.
